Grand Concert May 22

Our annual Grand Concert will be held on May 22, beginning at 6:00 PM, at Beaverton Christian Church, located at 13600 SW Allen Boulevard. Students in Levels 1-3 will play in the first half. Then we’ll have a brief intermission, followed by the Orchestra in the second half. We understand if the 6-7-year-olds need to leave early, but our Level Three students are asked to stay so they can hear the Orchestra, which they will be playing in next year. Dress is nice slacks or a skirt and nice shoes with the new SWMS logo t-shirts, which should be delivered to you in the next week or two.

We’ve got some exciting new classes in the offering for the 2012-13 school year:

We’re looking to expand our Elementary Violin class into four new locations: Cooper Mountain, Findley, and Hazeldale Elementary Schools, and St. Pious X Catholic School.
We’re planning to add a Viola class and a String Bass class, to fill out the Orchestra.
We’re adding a third level to our Orchestra: Chamber Orchestra, an audition-only group. If you’re interested in auditioning for this ensemble, talk to your current teacher to set up an audition.
We’re starting a totally new class, “Sound Engineering and Recording,” offered at Health and Sciences High School. For starters, this will only be available to students at HS2. Watch this space for more information.

Wondering if class is canceled today due to weather? Or wondering where class will be held?

Click on the EVENTS tab above, and then switch to the CALENDAR view. Please note that the calendar week starts on a MONDAY, so it might throw you off. Our office will try to get weather closures up on the web page as soon as we are aware of them, but just in case: we will follow the Beaverton School District in all their decisions. If they close or have an early dismissal due to weather, we will cancel classes. Remember: if BPS is closed due to teacher conferences, but the school building is still open, there WILL be class. If the school is closed for vacation or holiday, classes are canceled. If you have any questions, check in with your teacher. Or with our handy dandy calendar!

Is it too early to register?

We are still finalizing our schedule for the 2012-13 School Year. You may always send in a registration form to secure your spot for next Fall. At this point, we will not be registering students, but any registrations received will be held and guaranteed spots in the order received. Feel free to check out our schedule frequently, and note the new classes and locations as they become finalized.
